Cookie Policy
Smile Rain uses a small number of cookies and similar storage technologies to keep you signed in and to understand how the service performs. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. It lets the site recognise you across page loads. We also use localStorage — a browser storage area that works similarly to a cookie but stays on your device and is never sent to our servers — to persist your workspace content (tasks, notes, vault entries) locally.
2. The cookies we use
3. Cookie categories
Strictly necessary cookies are required for the service to function. They enable sign-in and protect private routes. Because they are essential, they do not require your consent under ePrivacy rules, and blocking them will prevent you from signing in.
Performance cookies (Vercel Analytics / Speed Insights) collect only anonymised, aggregated data. Vercel’s analytics are designed to be privacy-first and do not track individual users across sessions or sites. Under GDPR, we rely on legitimate interests for this processing given the non-personal nature of the data. If you are in the EU/EEA and would prefer to opt out entirely, you can do so by blocking the relevant cookies in your browser — this will not affect your ability to use the workspace.
4. How to control cookies
You can view, manage, or delete cookies through your browser’s settings. The following guides explain how to do this in common browsers:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Note that clearing localStorage will erase your locally stored workspace content (tasks, notes, vault entries), as this data exists only on your device.
5. Changes
When we add, remove, or change cookies we update this page and the effective date above. Material changes — such as adding new non-essential cookies — will be announced in-app in advance.
6. Related policies
See our Privacy Policy for the full picture of how we handle personal data, or our Terms of Service for the agreement covering your use of the workspace.
